Spelling section in the Thai language

In the Thai language, aside from consonants, vowels, and tones There are also spelling clauses in order to create more diverse words. The section is a prototype giving children the alphabet according to the category of words with spelling. Or pronunciation only, divided into 8 sections or 8 mothers as follows


1. Section Gon. Or Mae Gon

This is a syllable with a spelling "น" or other characters that acts like a spelling "น", namely “น, ญ, ณ. ร, ล,ฬfor example บ้าน (Baan), จาน (Jaan), เรือน (Reuan)


2. Section Gong. Or Mae Gong

This is a syllable with a spelling "ง" for example ฟอง (Forng), เปลือง (Pleuang)


3. Section Gok. Or Mae Gok

This is a syllable with a spelling "ก" or other characters that acts like a spelling "ก", namely “ก, ข, ค, ฆfor example เชือก (Cheuag), เลือก (Leuag)


4. Section God Or Mae God

This is a syllable with a spelling "ด" or other characters that acts like a spelling "ด", namely “ด, จ, ฉ, ช, ซ, ฌ, ฎ, ฏ, ฐ, ฑ, ฒ, ต, ถ, ท, ธ, ศ, ษ, สfor example ขวด (Khuad), ดอก (Dorg)


5. Section Gob. Or Mae Gob

This is a syllable with a spelling "บ" or other characters that acts like a spelling "บ", namely “บ, ป, พ, ฟ, ภfor example เก็บ (Gay), กบ (Gob), กับ (Gab)


6. Section Gom. Or Mae Gom

This is a syllable with a spelling "ม" for example จาม (Jaam), เยี่ยม (Yiam)


7. Section Goey. Or Mae Goey

This is a syllable with a spelling "ย" and "ว" for example แก้ว (Gaew),เขย (Khoey)


8. Section Gor Gaa. Or Mae Gor Gaa

This is a syllable that doesn't contain spelling for example กา (Gaa), เกาะ (Gaw)

Lesson 3 Learn Thai Tone Marks



Thai Tone Marks


          Tonal sounds refer to the highs and lows of a sound that appears in a syllable or in a word that can change the meaning of a word and is a soundtrack of other sounds that cannot be alone. There are 5 tonal sound units in the Thai language.





         1. / / The Middle level tonal (Mid tone) means the tonal tone that has a beginning from the middle level and gradually changes to a lower level corresponding to the ordinary tonal tone in the Thai language such as Maa, Pai.

         2. //  The Low-level tonal (Low tone) means tonal with a low starting point.  Matches the major tonal sounds in the Thai language.

         3. / ̂ / The Falling tonal (Falling tone) means the tonal changing from high to low, meaning there is a rather high starting point. Change a high level and then lower to a lower level Matches the tonal tone in the Thai language.

        4. /  ́/ The High-level tonal (High tone) means a tonal with a high starting point. Matches the tonal tone in the Thai language.

          5. /  ̌/ The Rising tonal (Rising tone)  means the tonal changes from low to high, meaning there is a relatively low starting point in the middle. Change the level down and then rise to the middle level, rather high or high level. Matches the tonal tones rising in the Thai language.


          Format of Thai tone marks have 4 symbols as under

  = mai eg        (ไม้เอก)
  = mai toh       (ไม้โท)
  = mai tree      (ไม้ตรี)
  = mai jst ta waa (ไม้จัตวา)

          Remember, These tone marks are used to stand above the consonants and have a different tone of each word.

Lesson 2 Learn Thai Vowels (Part IV)



Vowel Position

           This is Lesson 2 Learn Thai Vowels (Part IV).  It is the last of Part this Lesson. You will get to learn  Thai Vowels continue. It is interesting to know that vowels of the Thai language can be placed in four positions such as above the consonant, below the consonant, in front of the consonant and behind the consonant Perhaps, the vowel is hidden inside the word by itself.  


1. Above the consonants are as follow:
-ิ  -ี  -ึ  -ื   

2. Below the consonants are as follow:
-ุ  -ู

3. In front of the consonants are as follow:
เ-  แ-  โ- ไ- ใ

4. Behind the consonants are as follow:
-ะ  -า -อ  -ัว

5. Both in front and behind the consonants are as follow:
เ-ะ   แ-ะ   โ-ะ   เ-าะ   เ-ียะ   เ-ีย  เ-อะ  เ-อ   เ-ือะ   เ-ือ  เ-า

Mixed Vowels

             Hey! Guests. This is Lesson 2 Learn Thai Vowels (Part III).  It is the 3rd of Part in this Lesson. You will get to learn  Thai Vowels continue. Each kind of Vowels was called "Mixed Vowels" which collaborate during Short Vowels + Long Vowels + spelling.

             A mixed vowel is a vowel that is pronounced by an organ that is pronounced in more than one position. If an organ is in one position then changes to another position That pool will be a mixed vowel.

In English:  uai 
Example: (muai = มวย) , uay (gluay  = กล้วย)  , oo-ey (soo-ey = สวย)

-อย
In English:  oy 
Example: (doy = ดอย)

-ัย
In English: ai  
Example: (wai = วัย)

-ัน
In English: u , a 
Example: (tun = ทัน) , (wan = วัน)

-าย
In English: aai 
Example: (paai = พาย)

-าว
In English: ao, ow 
Example: (lao = ลาว)

-ำ
In English: um , am 
Example: (dum = ดำ)

-ิว
In English: iew, iu 
Example: (wiew = วิว)

เ-ย
In English: oei , oey , er-y
Example: (moei = เมย) , (loey = เลย) , (ler-y = เลย)

Example: (reow = เร็ว)

Example: (nuy = หนุ่ย) , (kui = คุย)

Example: (kum = กรรม)

-ฤ-
In English: Reu 
Example: (Reu See = ฤาษี)

-ฦ-
In English: Leu 
Example: (Leu Chaa = ฦาชา)


          Remember, Since it is not possible to use an English transcript to create distinguished an identical sound, one can get the correct sound by mimicking Thais whenever you hear them speak truly.
